One dead, two critical as bike crashes into gravel-laden trailer in Prayagraj
PRAYAGRAJ, April 18 -- A 25-year-old man was killed and two others critically injured after a motorcycle carrying three riders rammed into an overloaded gravel-laden trailer near the Sahson Toll Plaza on the Prayagraj-Gorakhpur highway in the trans-Ganga region on Friday morning.
According to police, the accident occurred around 10:30 am near Bhopatpur village under the Tharwai police station limits. The gravel-laden trailer was parked on the roadside, and as the driver tried to move it from the shoulder onto the main road, a speeding motorcycle approaching from the Phulpur side lost control and slammed into the driver's side of the trailer.The force of the collision hurled all three riders onto the road, leaving them critically injured. The victims were identified as Rajan (35), Sandeep (32), and Dhananjay Bharti (25). All three were residents of Malawan Khurd village under the Jhunsi police station area.
The injured were rushed to community health centre in Soraon, where doctors declared Dhananjay Bharti dead on arrival, while Rajan and Sandeep were administered primary treatment and later referred to Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital in Prayagraj due to their critical condition.
"The trailer driver fled the scene after abandoning the vehicle. CCTV footage is being reviewed to determine the exact sequence of events. Further action will be taken based on the findings of the investigation and complaints received from the victims' families," said Santosh Pandey, SHO of Tharwai police station.
