PRAYAGRAJ, Jan. 1 -- One youth was killed and two others sustained serious injuries after a speeding trailer truck rammed into a motorcycle near Kokhraj Ikka Adda in Kaushambi district on Wednesday afternoon, police said. According to police, the accident occurred when the trailer, travelling from Prayagraj to Kanpur, hit the motorcycle from behind. The youth seated at the rear of the bike was crushed under the truck's wheel and died on the spot, while the other two riders were thrown off and critically injured. The deceased was identified as Ranjit Kumar, 18, a resident of Nathai Ka Pura village under Kokhraj police station limits. He was travelling to Sirathu with his companions-Sant Kumar, 22, son of Lalta Prasad, and Neeraj, 17, son of Gulab Chand. Neeraj was riding the motorcycle, while Ranjit was seated at the back. After the collision, injured Sant Kumar alerted his family and called Dial-112. Police later set up a blockade on the highway near Kokhraj police station and intercepted the trailer truck involved in the accident. The injured youths were taken by ambulance to Muratganj Primary Health Centre, from where they were referred to the medical college hospital due to the seriousness of their condition. The body has been sent for post-mortem examination.
