Agra, June 17 -- One of the two accused, involved in firing at a woman and killing her on the spot on Saturday near the gate of Tehsil in Hathras, was arrested by Hathras police on Sunday night after an encounter. The injured accused has been admitted to the District Hospital of Hathras. "Two men on a motorcycle fired at a woman driving a two-wheeler near the gate of tehsil premises in Hathras city on Saturday evening. The woman, identified as Kalpita Sharma died on spot. Five teams were constituted to arrest five accused named in an FIR registered at Hathras gate police station," said Chiranjeev Nath Sinha, the SP Hathras on Sunday night. "Teams led by additional SP and circle officer were on vigil and got clues about the location of Naveen, one of the two main accused, who was planning to leave Hathras for another district on Sunday night. He was intercepted near the canal in the outskirts of Hathras city but he fired at the police, who returned the fire, leaving Naveen injured," SP said. "He was admitted to the district hospital and on questioning admitted that he was one of the two criminals who came on a motorcycle and fired at Kalpita Sharma who was accompanied by her mother on two-wheeler. Efforts are on to nab Gulshan Bhardwaj and other 3 accused named in FIR," he stated. A case was registered against five named accused in matter of killing of a 24-year-old woman who was driving her two-wheeler home in Hathras on Saturday evening. The deceased's mother, an eyewitness to the incident, alleged that a friend of her daughter-in-law killed her daughter, police added. "Kalpita's mother has alleged that her daughter-in-law Jyoti, has been living separately with her friend Gulshan Bhardwaj for the past six months due to a dispute with her husband, Vishal. She alleged that Bhardwaj shot her daughter," the SP added. Kalpita aka Tinkal was the daughter of Rakesh Sharma, who is the driver of Hathras district magistrate Rahul Pandey. The bullet grazed past her arm and got lodged in the chest. Kalpita worked as a nurse at a government hospital in Mathura, police officials said.
