On the run for eight months, dacoitymastermind arrested
LUCKNOW, Nov. 30 -- Vikas Nagar police on Friday arrested Samrat Shivam Dixit, 25, the alleged mastermind of a March 28 dacoity targeting a businessman in Lucknow, officials said.
"The 25-year-old, who carried a Rs.10,000 reward, had remained out of police and court reach for months, frequently changing locations and evading surveillance," Vikas Nagar SHO Alok Singh said, adding despite a non-bailable warrant and proclamation under Section 84(1) of the BNSS, Dixit had managed to stay underground until his arrest on November 28 (Friday).
A resident of Purauli village under Madhoganj police station limits in Hardoi, the accused faces charges under multiple sections of the BNSS along with the Arms Act in a case registered at the Vikas Nagar police station. Officials said police traced him to Tila Shahbazpur, Tripta City, Loni under Ghaziabad commissionerate, where he was caught following sustained tracking and technical monitoring. "His arrest has taken the total number of accused held in the case to 11, all of whom have now been sent to judicial custody," according to an official statement. Investigators said Dixit had joined hands with associates to execute the dacoity, even providing his SUV as the getaway vehicle.
"To coordinate the plan and maintain internal communication, the accused had created a WhatsApp group named. GG (Good Gang), in which Dixit actively participated while directing movements and sharing updates," the SHO explained. htc...
