Lucknow, Dec. 5 -- Krishna Nagar police here on Thursday arrested a man who had been absconding for almost three years after being convicted under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences (Pocso) Act. "The accused, RahuI Kumar, had been on the run since February 3, 2023, when he escaped after giving police the slip during a court appearance, after he was convicted in a 2015 case involving the rape of a 13-year-old girl, for which a case had been registered against him under the Pocso Act," said ACP Krishna Nagar Rajneesh Verma. According to officials, Rahul fled to Delhi and altered his appearance by growing a beard and moustache. He then took up work as a security guard to avoid detection. Police received information on December 3, 2025, that Rahul had returned to his home in Nandnagar Natkheda.
