AGRA, Sept. 12 -- The water level of the Yamuna River has now gone below the danger mark, the city of Agra continues to face problems, especially related to traffic. The combination of flood-like conditions in some areas and ongoing metro construction work has caused increased traffic on MG Road, which is considered the lifeline of the city. To address this issue, Agra Police commissioner Deepak Kumar held a meeting on Thursday with officials from Agra Metro, Agra Cantonment, and Agra Nagar Nigam. He said that because roads like Yamuna Kinara Road are affected by flooding, more vehicles are using MG Road, adding to the congestion. Since the construction work for the metro will continue until December 2026, the authorities discussed several steps to ease the situation. The commissioner said that MG Road will be made an autorickshaw-free zone to reduce the number of vehicles. ANN will also be asked to run more electric buses on the route. Footpaths along the road will be widened, and any electricity poles blocking the way will be removed. Agra Metro has been told to place more marshals at important locations along MG Road to help manage traffic flow. He added that parking areas along the road are being reviewed. The authorities are also paying attention to traffic problems during school hours. htc...
