Officials not conveying truth to higher authorities: UP minister
KANPUR, July 26 -- Minister of state for women and child development, Pratibha Shukla Warsi, on Friday alleged that officials were not conveying the truth to higher authorities. She warned that justice would only be done if the matter reached chief minister Yogi Adityanath. She also accused BJP MP from Akbarpur, Devendra Singh Bhole, of encouraging anti-social elements and facilitating gambling activities.
The remarks came a day after the minister and her husband, former MP Anil Shukla Warsi, ended the sit-in protest at the Akbarpur police station in Kanpur Dehat. On Friday, the minister claimed that the station house officer (SHO) of Akbarpur had confided in her that he was under pressure from senior officials. Referring to a road construction project in the Badhla area, Shukla claimed that councillors attempted to disrupt the work, leading to a confrontation. Police were called in to disperse the crowd. She maintained that despite assurances from senior officials, including principal secretary Sanjay Prasad, no action had been taken against the police personnel involved.
"There is no reason why these officers should not be removed," Shukla said, adding that the suppression of facts was obstructing justice. Meanwhile, an inquiry has been initiated by the additional superintendent of police, Kanpur Dehat, on the instructions of SP Arvind Misra. However, there is no clarity on when the investigation will conclude. SP Arvind Mishra could not be contacted despite repeated attempts. Responding to the allegations, MP Devendra Singh Bhole said that the matter would be raised at the party forum. "We all are party workers. I will not comment publicly," he said....
