NW India to see hotter days, nights: IMD
New Delhi, Feb. 20 -- There is likely to be a gradual rise in day temperature by 3-4 degree C and night temperatures by 2-3 degree C over northwest India, India Meteorological Department has warned on Thursday.
"We can expect a gradual rise in temperatures now as we move towards the pre-monsoon season from March. A western disturbance has just impacted NW India which led to a big fall in day temperatures. That will change now," said M Mohapatra, director general, IMD. "Gradual rise in maximum temperature by 3-4degC and minimum temperature by 2-3degC likely over plains of Northwest India during next 7 days," IMD said. Maximum temperatures are appreciably above normal by 3-5 degree C over Jammu-Kashmir, Punjab, Chhattisgarh, Bihar, Gujarat region, Tripura; remaining parts of Uttar Pradesh, Rajasthan, West Madhya Pradesh; by 2-3 degree C over Jharkhand, Gangetic West Bengal, Odisha, Vidarbha and near normal over rest parts of the country. A fresh upper air cyclonic circulation is lying over the Equatorial Indian Ocean and adjoining southeast Bay of Bengal extending up to middle tropospheric levels....
