LUCKNOW, June 20 -- A new state-of-the-art nutrition rehabilitation centre (NRC) was launched at the Mother and Child Hospital of Dr Ram Manohar Lohia Institute of Medical Sciences (RMLIMS) in Lucknow, to provide specialised care to malnourished children. The centre was inaugurated by Prof CM Singh, director of the Institute, and Dr Pinky Jowel, director of National Health Mission, UP, on Thursday. Prof CM Singh, during the inauguration, said that the centre will cater to children under six months with severe acute malnutrition, offering medical and nutritional care, among which, infants will be treated at the NRC for fourteen to twenty days. Dr Pinky Jowel stated that the centre will not only provide medical treatment but also educate parents about healthy diets and lifestyles for their children. The NRC is expected to play a significant role in combating severe acute malnutrition and strengthening child health services in the region. Dr Shitanshu Srivastava, in-charge of NRC, Dr KK Yadav, Dr Deepti Agarwal, head of pediatrics department, Dr Amit Mehrotra, UNICEF programme manager, Dr Sushma Singh, director general of family welfare directorate, Dr Shrikesh Singh, medical superintendent, Mother and Child hospital, RMLIMS, were also present during the programme....
