Nursing student commits suicide
PRAYAGRAJ, July 17 -- A nursing student allegedly committed suicide by hanging herself in Benipur area under Shankargarh police station of Prayagraj sometime late on Tuesday night. Her body was found on Wednesday morning. The police have sent the body to Prayagraj for a post-mortem examination.
According to reports, the 21-year-old woman, a resident of a village under Paschim Sharira police station of Kaushambi district, was a final year nursing student at a private paramedical college in Shankargarh area and was living on rent in a house in Benipur for the last two years.
The landlord said that the student had gone to her room late on Tuesday evening as usual, but he grew suspicious when the door did not open till late on Wednesday morning. When there was no response even after knocking the door several times, on peeping through the adjacent window, she was found hanging from the fan in the room with the help of a cloth.
The police were informed about the matter, said SHO of Shankargarh police station Om Prakash.
Shankargarh police, who reached the spot, broke into the room and opened the door from inside and informed the forensic team.
SHO Om Prakash said that the student's death appears to be a suicide prima facie. The body has been sent for a post-mortem examination, and the student's mobile phone and other material have been seized and are being investigated.
