PRAYAGRAJ, May 17 -- A three-and-a-half-year-old nursery student died in Prayagraj on Thursday, allegedly after he was beaten by two teachers of the school where he studied, police said on Friday, referring to a complaint by the parents of the boy. An FIR was lodged on the complaint of the boy's father at the Naini police station against two unidentified persons under Section 105 (culpable homicide) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). Deputy commissioner of police (Trans Yamuna) Vivek Chandra Yadav said the parents of the child had claimed in the written complaint that two teachers of the school had assaulted the boy leading to his death. The post-mortem report shows a cut on the eyebrow, besides an injury on the tongue, the DCP added. "The complaint submitted by parents of the deceased child did not have any mention of any sexual assault. However, the PM report indicates towards an injury on his private parts, in light of which a sexual assault cannot be ruled out. We will be investigating all angles in this case and will also scan CCTV footage of cameras in and around the school," he added. The boy was admitted to the nursery section of the school a month ago, the FIR said, adding that the parents had taken him, along with two older siblings, to the school on Thursday. The siblings are students of Classes 2 and 3 in the same school, the FIR added. The boy's father, resident of Mahewa West Patti under Naini police station limits, is a grocer. According to the FIR, the boy's father got a call at 10.13 am on Thursday from one Krishna Mohan Gupta, who said the boy had fainted in school. The father rushed to the school and took the boy to the government-run Children Hospital where doctors declared the child dead, according to his complaint. Later, a post-mortem was conducted at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital (SRNH). In the FIR, the father said his 10-year-old son, a student of Class 2, told him two teachers had hit his brother hard in front of him after which the child experienced difficulty in breathing and died later. The mother said the boy was admitted to school last month but refused to go after a few days. The boy did not disclose the reason for his reluctance to go to school, she said. "After a gap of several days, I took him to school (on Thursday). I sat inside the school premises till 8.10am after which I returned home. However, my husband got a call from the school saying that the child had fainted. I, along with my husband, went to the school. My son was not responding," she added. "For the next four hours, we kept rushing our son to different hospitals -- a local clinic in Mahewa, Government Children Hospital, Kamla Nehru Memorial Hospital and Chaka Community Health Centre," she said. "When everyone refused treatment and kept referring to other hospitals claiming his condition was serious, we decided to approach the Naini police who took our son to Trauma Center located at Swaroop Rani Nehru Hospital where doctors declared him dead on Thursday afternoon," she said. The post-mortem was performed by a panel of doctors who found that the child had been sexually assaulted with injury marks in his private parts, besides on his forehead and tongue. The post-mortem also revealed that the child had been administered some kind of sedative. "The viscera has been preserved, besides slides of fluid found in the private parts of the child have also been preserved along with the school uniform that the child was wearing at the time of his death," a panel member said on condition of anonymity.
