LUCKNOW, Sept. 7 -- To curb unauthorised vending and bring greater transparency to catering services, Northern Railway's (NR) Lucknow Division recently introduced QR code-based identity cards for catering vendors, helpers and staff working. The initiative was rolled out on August 25 at Varanasi Cantt station, where catering vendors began receiving the new standardised ID cards. Each card features a QR code containing complete vendor details, enabling passengers and railway officials to easily verify their authenticity. The system will soon be expanded to all stations under the Lucknow Division, officials said. "This measure will help passengers easily identify authorised catering staff while promoting transparency and maintaining service quality," said Kuldeep Tiwari, senior divisional commercial manager, Lucknow Division....
