Notorious cattle smuggler Abdullah Khan arrested
Prayagraj, Aug. 11 -- Kokhraj police have arrested Abdullah Khan, a notorious cattle smuggler from Bihar, in a late-night operation on Friday. His accomplice had previously been arrested during a police encounter. Following legal formalities, Abdullah was formally charged and taken into custody, officials confirmed.
According to police, the arrest stems from a case dated March 7, 2024, when a tip-off led Kokhraj police to set up a blockade near a roadside eatery in Shehzadpur.
On spotting the police, the smugglers abandoned a container truck and fled. Inside the vehicle, authorities discovered 26 cattle being illegally transported from Kanpur to West Bengal for slaughter. A case was registered against unidentified individuals at the time.
Later, on February 8, 2024, one of the suspects, Rehan-son of Mustafa and a resident of Chamroopur under Kokhraj police station-was arrested during a police encounter. Since then, Abdullah Khan, the main accused and a resident of Sihuli Gaya Dariaura in Bihar's Gaya district, had been on the run.
During interrogation, Abdullah confessed to owning the container truck-bearing Nagaland registration plates-used in the smuggling operation on March 7. SHO CB Maurya of Kokhraj police station stated that one more unidentified suspect remains at large, and efforts to apprehend him are ongoing....
