Notorious 'cap-and-mask' gang busted, three held
LUCKNOW, Sept. 12 -- Three members of the notorious 'cap-and-mask gang', known for targeting locked houses in the city, were arrested by Chinhat police on Thursday, stated an official press note.
According to station house officer (SHO) Dinesh Chandra Mishra the gang operated by wearing caps and masks to hide their identities, scouting closed houses during the day, and returning at night to break in and steal valuables.
The SHO added that the investigations revealed the gang was led by 38-year-old Anil Kumar Rastogi, of Chota Bharwara. He is a habitual offender with over 20 previous cases, including burglary, cheating, and charges under Gangster Act. The other accused have been identified as 24-year-old Abhinanadan Yadav of Bahraich and 22-year-old Barabanki resident Narsingh Gautam. Both also have criminal records and have been named in several theft-related FIRs in Lucknow.Police recovered 49 grams of gold ornaments, 410 grams of silver jewellery, three mobile phones, Rs 4300 in cash, and a car allegedly used in the crimes. The items seized include bracelets, earrings, rings, anklets, pendants, and nose pins, the press note added.
The gang has been linked to recent burglaries in the Chinhat police station area, for which FIRs had been filed against unidentified burglars.HTC...
