Jaipur, July 2 -- The government on Tuesday informed the Rajasthan high court that the state is not considering to cancel the 2021 Sub Inspector recruitment examination, of which question papers were leaked by a slew of candidates and two former Rajasthan Public Service Commission (RPSC) members. Following the government's decision, the single-bench court presided over by justice Sameer Jain scheduled July 7 as the final date of hearing for the case when the petitioners will quote its response and the court will sentence its verdict. The additional advocate general of the Rajasthan government, Rajendra Prasad, told the court: "The cabinet sub-committee which was formed to take a decision on the cancellation of the SI-2021 exam had sent its report to the home department and the chief minister's office. The CM had approved the report in which the committed stated that the cancelling this exam is not under their consideration at this moment." On October 1, the government formed a five-member cabinet sub-committee led by the parliamentary affairs minister Jogaram Patel to take a decision on the cancellation of this exam. The committee was earlier given four deadlines by the high court since February to take a decision on the matter but failed. During the last hearing on May 26, Jain's court warned the government to "either take a decision by the next hearing date or otherwise they will be faced a penalty." The AAG, on Tuesday, asubmitted a copy of the sub-committee's report with an additional affidavit by the CM before the court. HT has seen a copy of the same. In the report, the government stated that cancelling the entire recruitment process of the SI-2021 at this stage of the investigation will be a 'premature decision' as only a negligible proportion of the total candidates have been found cheating in the exam. "The statistics (of the SI-2021 exam) that made available would reflect that percentage of tainted candidates was considered from different classes of persons classified in different category like those who obtained appointment for the first time in government, ex-servicemen who were not in government service, ex-service who were in government service, candidates who were in other govermment services of the State of Rajasthan and candidates who were in central or other state government services. The conclusive analyses of the report would reflect that within different categories of candidates, aggregately 53 tainted candidates out of the total appointed 838 candidates which is 6.3%, have been terminated or suspended from the service," the report read. The report also quoted several Supreme Court judgements in various paper-leak cases from other states like West Bengal and Punjab which ruled that the state does not need to cancel a paper if "they can segregate the tainted and untainted candidates clearly during the investigation."...
