LUCKNOW, Nov. 6 -- Police in Gautam Buddh Nagar have warned and helped seven people from five states who had fallen victim to an online investment scam, a release from the police headquarters read on Wednesday. The victims, who hail from Tamil Nadu, Gujarat, Telangana, Odisha and Rajasthan, were duped by cyber fraudsters who promised high returns on investments in the stock market and other schemes, the note read. According to officials, the scammers approached the victims through social media and convinced them to invest in fraudulent schemes. Intelligence inputs and data analytics helped police track down the victims, they added. "The Gautam Buddh Nagar team worked with Indian Cyber Crime Coordination Centre (I4C) and National Payments Corporation of India (NPCI) to gather financial intelligence and identify the victims. The cyber cell team contacted them and warned them about the scam," they explained....
