PRAYAGRAJ, July 10 -- The Republican Party of India (Athawale)--[RPI(A)]--has consistently stood up for the rights and interests of North Indians in Maharashtra. The party has always strongly opposed incidents of violence, assault, or attacks targeting North Indians. "Mumbai is a city of diversity and unity. We are proud of the Marathi language, but no one has the right to slap anyone in the name of language or region," said Union Minister and RPI(A) National President Ramdas Athawale while addressing the media at the Circuit House in Prayagraj on Wednesday. Referring to the politics of Uddhav Thackeray and Raj Thackeray, Athawale criticized the so-called "slap policy" adopted in the name of linguistic identity. "If you slap, you will be slapped in return," he said. Athawale emphasised that the RPI is actively working to advance the vision of Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar in Uttar Pradesh. He said the party is committed not just to political engagement, but also to championing social justice, equality, and the fundamental right to education. "In a large and socially diverse state like Uttar Pradesh, RPI plays an important role. The government is striving to realise Baba Saheb's dream through initiatives like free education, free healthcare, access to justice, women's empowerment, farmer and labor welfare, elimination of unemployment, prevention of police harassment, and land distribution to the landless," Athawale added. The Union minister was in Prayagraj on Wednesday to attend the 'Samvidhan Samman Sammelan', organised by the party.
