PRAYAGRAJ, Nov. 12 -- The Allahabad high court on Monday refused to grant any relief to the accused who had raised the slogan "Sar Tan se Juda" during a procession in Bareilly in support of the Kanpur incident relating to "I Love Mohammad" procession during Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi procession. After the incident, the police had registered an FIR at Cantt police station of Bareilly under various sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS). A division bench comprising Justice Ajay Bhanot and Justice Garima Prasad dismissed a writ petition filed by Gauhar Khan and Shakib Jamal for quashing of FIR against them in the matter and also for a direction to the state and police authorities to not take any coercive action against the petitioners in pursuance of the aforesaid FIR. As per facts of the case, in protest of police action in the Kanpur incident, a procession was organised at Bareilly on September, 26 in which the said slogan was raised. The controversy began on September 4 during the Barawafat (Eid-e-Milad-un-Nabi) procession in Rawatpur, Kanpur. A group put up an 'I Love Muhammad' banner along the procession route.
