LUCKNOW, Nov. 8 -- The first winter shivers of the year were felt by Kanpurites as the city's minimum temperature dipped below the 10-degree Celsius (degC) mark, settling at 9.2degC, on Thursday, India Meteorological Department (IMD) data read. This was 4.5 degrees below normal and a sharp dip of nearly eight degrees from the minimum recorded a day earlier. On Thursday, the minimum temperature in Kanpur city was 17 degrees Celsius. Etawah was no different as the night temperature plummeted to 9.6 degrees (4.5 degrees below normal). Thursday's minimum temperature in the district was 14.6 degrees Celsius, a drop by five degrees. So was Bulandshahr where also the night temperature fell from 15 degrees Celsius to 11 degrees, a drop of four degrees. The IMD attributed the temperature dip to clear skies and cold northwesterly winds from snow-clad mountains, with a further 1-2degC fall expected by the weekend. Lucknow's night temperature dropped from 19.1degC to 13.8degC, with misty mornings, clear skies later, and day-night temperatures around 29degC and 14degC....
