NIA Takes over probe into twin bathinda blasts
Bathinda, Nov. 13 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) has taken over the probe into two blasts that rocked Punjab's Bathinda district in September, officials said on Wednesday.
Officials said the central agency was handed over the case last week. "Case files have been given to the NIA, and the federal agency will now take the matter to the special NIA court in Mohali. The agency will now analyse the entire findings of the Bathinda district police and reports of the forensic experts about the evidence to carry out its own probe," an official said on condition of anonymity.
Bathinda SSP Amneet Kondal confirmed the development. According to police, twin blasts took place in Bathinda's Jeeda village on September 10 when 19-year-old Gurpreet Singh, allegedly radicalised by content he watched online, was assembling explosive material at his residence....
