New Delhi, May 2 -- The National Investigation Agency (NIA) chief, Sadanand Date, on Thursday visited Baisaran meadow in Pahalgam for firsthand assessment of the attack site, people familiar with the development said. An IPS officer of 1990-batch from Maharashtra, Date, according to officers close to him, has an excellent understanding of investigating terrorism cases and that his inputs will be useful for the probe team. Date was among the first responders to 26/11 Mumbai attackers and personally, along with his team, took on two terrorists.
