New Delhi, July 4 -- The National Highway Authority of India (NHAI), in a statement on Thursday, announced the suspension of its project director in Palanpur, Gujarat, and punitive action against three private firms over poor construction of the six-lane Sanchore-Santalpur section of 130 km Amritsar-Jamnagar economic corridor.
According to the statement, three private firms - CDS Infra Projects, M/s SA Infra, and M/s Upham - have been debarred from participating in the tendering process for ongoing and upcoming national highway projects, and an additional fine of Rs.2.8 crore has been imp- osed on the engineering procurement and construction (EPC) contractor CDS Infra Projects.
The company has to now redo the work at its own cost. M/s SA Infra in association with M/s Upham were appointed as "authority engineer" for the project....
