PRAYAGRAJ, July 3 -- A seven-day-old infant who was severely injured in a dog attack in Aaspur Devsara area in Pratapgarh district died while being taken to Prayagraj for treatment on Tuesday evening, police confirmed. The infant, the son of Ankit and Ekta Saroj from Kewatli village of the district, was born on June 23. On Tuesday afternoon, a stray dog entered the house through the open door and mauled the infant while the mother had stepped out to wash clothes. No one else was at home when the incident took place, according to the family members. Her screams alerted nearby relatives, who immediately rushed the baby to the medical college. "My child was referred to the children's hospital in Prayagraj district in light of his serious condition, but he passed away en route," Ankit said.
