New property tax mgmt system from next fiscal
LUCKNOW, Dec. 17 -- The urban development department is set to introduce a new property tax management system (PTMS) in all 17 municipal corporations in the state from the next financial year. The move is aimed at improving transparency, monitoring and efficiency in property tax assessment and recovery. The system will also help find new properties in the municipal corporations.
Under the new system, every residential and commercial property will be assigned a unique 16-digit identification number. A numbered plate with an embedded chip will be installed on each property, enabling authorities to access complete details related to ownership, assessment and tax payments through the digital platform, said an official of the department.
Officials of the urban development department said the new system will replace the existing software currently used by municipal corporations and will be linked to the Smart City Command and Control Centre.
