Ayodhya, Jan. 15 -- A 20-year-old man was taken into custody for allegedly raping a 4-year-old girl in a village under the Purakalandar police station area of Ayodhya on Wednesday. The accused idenitified as Kunnan, who is a neighbour of the girl, allegedly lured her while she was playing outside her house and took her to an isolated place where he raped her, police said. Hearing the child scream, people nearby reached the spot, villagers said. They said the accused tried to flee after finding himself surrounded by people, but villagers chased him and caught him, and handed him over to the police. Villagers said the accused was released from jail three months ago. He had previously been imprisoned in connection with another rape case. They said there was anger among the villagers after the incident and they demanded strictest action against the accused. Circle officer, Ayodhya, Ashutosh Tiwari said that the accused has been taken into custody. Based on the complaint of the victim's kin, a case has been registered under relevant sections, he said....
