LUCKNOW, Dec. 3 -- A 14-year-old minor girl was allegedly molested by her neighbour in Gomtinagar Extension area late on Sunday night when the accused offered to drop her home from a wedding function on his scooter. The matter came to fore on Tuesday. According to the complaint lodged by the victim's grandmother at Gomtinagar Extension police station, the woman had attended a marriage ceremony along with her granddaughter. While they were waiting outside the lawn for a cab, neighbour Sanjay Yadav, who was also present at the wedding with his wife, offered to take the girl home on his scooter, asking the grandmother to come later with her husband by cab. The grandmother told police that when she reached home, neither the girl nor Sanjay Yadav was there. About 15 minutes later, the terrified girl came running home, fell into her grandmother's arms and broke down. Sobbing uncontrollably, the minor revealed that Sanjay Yadav took her on his scooter, touched her private parts inappropriately and molested her in a dark lane near their house. When she resisted, the accused allegedly threatened to kill her if she told anyone. According to the family, the girl sustained injuries on her knee after she managed to escape and fell while running. Following the complaint, Gomti Nagar Extension police have registered a case under relevant sections of the POCSO Act and BNS, and investigation is underway.
