Negligence in murder case costs inspector his post
LUCKNOW, Aug. 2 -- The Lucknow Commissionerate suspended inspector Virendra Tripathi on Friday for negligence in handling a case that later turned into a murder investigation, a police department release read on Friday.
Tripathi, who was posted as station house officer (SHO) at Naka Hindola police station, failed to file a timely FIR and took no concrete action to trace a missing youth who was later found killed.
A senior police official revealed that during the suspension period, Tripathi will remain attached to the Reserve Police Lines, Lucknow.
The inspector is accused of delaying the missing person report filed by Sachin Kumar Yadav, whose brother Naveen Yadav went missing from Charbagh railway station on July 24. Despite the complainant raising suspicion over an auto-rickshaw driver, Tripathi neither registered the complaint on time nor launched any meaningful search. htc...
