Lucknow, Aug. 15 -- A 25-year-old contractual worker Gaurav Yadav from Dharaura died on Thursday after coming into contact with an 11,000-volt line at the 33/11 kV Itaunja Power Substation under the BKT division. Yadav, employed through M/s Quiz Company, was reportedly assigned high-voltage work despite being unskilled. Union leaders allege junior engineer Yogesh Kumar Yadav routinely pressured unskilled staff to handle dangerous tasks. On July 25, another worker, Jitendra Maurya, suffered serious injuries in a similar incident and had to bear his own medical expenses. The Uttar Pradesh Nivida Samvida Karmchari Union has demanded a probe, departmental action against the JE, and Rs20 lakh compensation for the victim's family, to be recovered from the engineer's salary. LESA officials said they would review the matter but declined to comment on record. htc...
