PRAYAGRAJ, Oct. 9 -- One of its kind, the Neelam Karwaria Cup T-20 Tournament is all set to begin at the Government Press Ground here on Friday with the participation of 12 teams, representing different constituencies. While the Karawaria Cup has previously been held at the all-India level, only 12 teams from the twelve assembly constituencies of Prayagraj district will participate in the competition. The organizing committee decided to provide emerging athletes from the urban and rural areas of Prayagraj with an opportunity to showcase their athletic skills on a high-level platform. Organizing secretary, Saksham Karwaria on Wednesday announced that no fee is being charged from the participating players and teams. The organizing committee has formed a selection committee to select the assembly-wise teams under a transparent policy. "The selection committee members visited each assembly constituency on pre-determined dates to select the teams. The organizing committee decided that a team representing the respective assembly constituency must be a native of that assembly constituency," he added. Along with this, the coach and manager of each team have been authorized that with their consent, they can keep three outside players in each team. The concerned competition is affiliated to Allahabad Cricket Association. "To conduct the competition in a proper and grand manner, all umpires, scorers, referees etc., of the ACA are being involved. The organizing committee has formed a technical committee to ensure that the matches are conducted without any dispute," he further said, adding, :The matches will be shown live on YouTube." A memento and a cash prize of Rs 2000 will be given to man of the match in every match. Similarly, the best batsman of the competition will be given a memento and Rs 10000, whereas the best bowler will be given a memento and Rs 10000, the best fielder will be given Rs 10000 cash prize. The best player, Man of the Series, will be given a memento and Rs 20000 cash prize. He also announced that the winning team will receive the Neelam Karawaria Cup and Rs 1 lakh. The runner-up team will receive Rs 60,000. Additionally, the organizing secretary will award gold and silver medals to all players, coaches, and managers of the winning and runner-up teams, respectively....
