Prayagraj, June 6 -- To mark International Railway Level Crossing Awareness Day, the general manager of North Central Railway (NCR), Upendra Chandra Joshi, launched a mobile video van at the NCR Headquarters in Prayagraj. The initiative aims to educate road users about the dangers of level crossings and promote safety measures. Equipped with a television and audio-visual system, the van will travel across the NCR zone for the next 45 days, visiting schools, villages, markets, and level crossings in the Prayagraj, Jhansi, and Agra divisions. The van will screen short films covering topics such as safe crossing practices at level crossings, avoiding the transport of cattle on tracks, refraining from travelling on train roofs and footboards, not accepting food from strangers during train journeys, and not carrying inflammable materials on trains. Safety counsellors will accompany the van, distributing pamphlets, posters, and stickers to further raise awareness. Additionally, NCR officials and safety personnel are visiting schools, colleges, and gram panchayats to commemorate the day. Awareness campaigns are also being conducted through social media platforms like WhatsApp, X (formerly Twitter), Instagram, and SMS.
