LUCKNOW, Feb. 17 -- Gyan Tiwari, BJP MLA from Sitapur's Sevata seat, staged a sit-in at the Rampur Mathura police station in that district with his supporters on Sunday accusing cops of forcibly stopping 'Nautanki' (a traditional folk theatre form in North India) in Surjanpur organised by the Nishad community on Saturday night. Tiwari levelled serious allegations against the police saying their behaviour was creating an atmosphere of fear and discontent among the public. He warned if action was not taken against the guilty cops, who as per him forcibly stopped the 'Nautanki', he would raise the issue with the state government. During this, a heated argument ensued between station house officer Sanjay Pandey and the MLA. Meanwhile, CO Mahmudabad Ved Prakash reached the police station and explained the situation to him. Around two hours later, SP Ankur Agarwal spoke to Gyan Tiwari over the phone, assuring him of action within 24 hours, following which the MLA relented....
