Nari Shakti Vandan Abhiyan in UP schools to empower girl students
LUCKNOW, April 15 -- Government-run schools in Uttar Pradesh will now be developed as centres of women empowerment under the five-day 'Nari Shakti Vandan Abhiyan' starting Thursday. Under the special campaign from April 16-20 activities will be organised in council schools and Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalayas. According to the order issued by additional chief secretary, basic and secondary education, Partha Sarthi Sen Sharma, the campaign is being implemented at the state level. The objective is to promote confidence, awareness and social participation among girls from school days..
Special programmes will be organised on April 16 as 'Nari Shakti Vandan Diwas' in which parents of girls with more than 70% attendance will be honoured in all council schools.
Yogendra Upadhyay, UP higher education minister, on Tuesday called for active participation from students and the higher education department in the widespread promotion and dissemination of the 'Nari Shakti Vandan Adhiniyam.'
