Namami Gange approves STPs worth Rs 400 cr
Lucknow, Feb. 15 -- The National Mission for Clean Ganga (NMCG) has approved the construction of Sewage Treatment Plants (STPs) in Varanasi and Bhadohi, to aid in the rejuvenation of the Ganga River. The NMCG's 60th executive committee meeting approved projects worth over Rs 400 crore. In Varanasi, the committee approved the interception and diversion of the Durga Drain, an STP with a 60 MLD capacity will be built at Rs 274.31 crore, along with a 75 MLD pumping station. In Bhadohi, Rs 127.26 crore will be invested to build three STPs and a sewer network to prevent untreated sewage from polluting the Varuna.
