New Delhi, May 26 -- The Northeast has emerged as a hub of global partnership and mutual interest, Union minister Jyotiraditya Scindia has said at the Raising Northeast Investors Summit 2025, which drew Rs.4.3 lakh crore in investment interest, setting the stage for the region to become India's "next economic powerhouse". Inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on May 23, the two-day summit concluded in the national capital on Saturday. In his valedictory address, Union minister for development of North Eastern Region (DoNER) Scindia informed that delegations from over 80 countries participated in the summit and "there was one unanimous sentiment: India's future lies in Northeast." "None of this would have been possible without the commitment of the government under PM Modi and his deep, heartfelt connection to this region. For six decades after Independence, successive governments failed to recognise the vast potential of this land-a land that once contributed nearly 20% to India's GDP. But Prime Minister Narendra Modi not only understood this potential, he embraced it," Scindia said, according to a statement on Sunday.
