My sister is the reason I'm here, says Calum Scott after India acts

early a decade after a single audition changed the course of his life, British singer Calum Scott says moments of disbelief still catch him off guard, especially while performing far from home. Fresh from performances in Delhi and Mumbai, Scott reflects on a journey that took him from singing in a tribute band to selling out arenas across the world, a leap he credits to one person: his sister. "My sister's definitely the reason why I'm here," he says, recalling a time when he was ready to walk away from talent shows altogether. After failing to make it through The X Factor, Scott had decided the format wasn't for him. At the time, he was fronting a Maroon 5 tribute band and, by his own admission, content. "I was pretending to be Adam Levine and I was loving life," he recalls.
It was his sister who persuaded him to audition for Britain's Got Talent, a decision that quietly altered his path. Today, Scott is touring globally and performing some of the biggest shows of his career. His recent India concerts, he says, were another reminder of "how unexpectedly far that leap of faith" has carried him.
"Everything now is a crafted performance," he says, adding, "But every now and again, you stop being a performer and realise you're a human being standing on a stage in front of thousands of people."
Those moments still overwhelm him. "You suddenly think, oh my God, I cannot believe I'm doing the job I dreamed of, in places all around the world."
What resonates most, Scott adds, is the generosity of the response. "To be received so warmly in countries across the world is a huge honour," he says, noting that the feeling comes with a sense of responsibility, particularly in an industry saturated with music....
