Muzaffarnagar: DSP massages feet of Kanwariyas, video goes viral
MUZAFFARNAGAR, July 20 -- As lakhs of devotees undertake the Kanwar Yatra across western Uttar Pradesh, a heartwarming gesture by Rishika Singh, the deputy superintendent of police (DSP) and officer in-charge of Phugana circle in Muzaffarnagar, has gone viral on social media.
In the viral video, she is seen massaging the feet of Kanwariyas while on duty.
"This is our duty. Our ADG, DIG, and SSP have clearly instructed us to not only ensure security and order during the yatra, but also actively serve the devotees, especially women Kanwariyas and Bhole bhakts (devotees). Their journey must be completed safely and peacefully. We are simply doing our part, however small it may be," the DSP said.
Recalling the moment that prompted her to act while on duty near the Lalu Khedi outpost at the Shamli-Muzaffarnagar border, she said: "I spotted a large number of pilgrims walking with unwavering devotion, carrying the holy Ganga. I wondered... aren't they tired? That thought stirred something in me."
She approached a group of female pilgrims, had them seated on chairs, and massaged their feet.
"It brought them some relief, and I felt at peace doing it," Singh added.
