Dehradun, July 6 -- Dehradun police arrested a 42-year-old music teacher for allegedly raping his 12-year-old student, police officers aware of the matter said on Saturday. A first information report (FIR) was registered against the accused under section 64 (rape) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, and relevant sections of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act (Pocso) Act on July 3. Senior superitendent of police Ajai Singh said, "On July 3, we received a complaint from the minor's father that her daughter was raped by her music teacher. On the basis of complaint, we registered the FIR under relevant sections of the BNS and Pocso Act." "I gave strict instructions to the station house officer to arrest the accused. A team was formed to nab the accused. We arrested him within 24 hours of the complaint being registered on July 4," the SSP said. SHO Kundan Ram said, "The victim joined music class in April. Her music teacher raped her multiple times in April and May. When the victim didn't go to her classes on July 1 and 2, her parents inquired about the reason. That is when the victim confided in her parents that her music teacher raped her." "We registered the FIR promptly on July 3 and arrested the accused on the next day," he said. In another case, the Dehradun police arrested a man from Gurugram in Haryana for allegedly kidnapping, and sexually assaulting a minor. SSP Ajai Singh said, "On June 29, a complainant said that his minor daughter left the house without informing anyone. Based on the complaint, we registered an FIR under section 137(2) (kidnapping) of the BNS. We constituted a team for the recovery of the girl." "The police team examined CCTV footage from the roads and areas surrounding the girl's residence and also gathered information through surveillance. During investigation, it was revealed that the accused lured the minor girl and took her with him. A team was immediately dispatched to Haryana, from where we arrested the accused, and rescued the minor girl from his custody," he added. "Based on the statements of the minor girl, additional sections, 64(1) of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita and relevant sections of the POCSO Act were added to the case," the SSP added....
