Music maestros to perform on SNA's 63rd foundation day
LUCKNOW, Nov. 13 -- Renowned flautist Ronu Majumdar and classical vocalist Pandit Raghunandan Panshikar will perform on Thursday to mark the 63rd foundation day of the Uttar Pradesh Sangeet Natak Akademi (SNA).
Chairperson prof Jayant Khot said that while last year's foundation day featured an instrumental performance and the previous year focused on vocal music, this year will bring both art forms together. "Maestros from Maharashtra will grace the stage with special vocal and instrumental performances," he said.
Akademi director Shobhit Nahar highlighted the akademi's recent initiatives, including its first-ever summer workshops at the Juvenile Reform Home in Etawah, where inmates were trained in vocal music and tabla.
Outlining future activities, Nahar said the Akademi plans to host an International Music Festival in February in memory of Swami Haridas, the guru of Tansen. "During the festival, one outstanding artist in vocal music, dance, or instrumental music will be honoured with a cash prize of Rs.5 lakh."...
