Murder accused on the runfor 13 years held in Badaun
MEERUT, Aug. 24 -- The Faizganj Behta police in Badaun on Friday arrested Tejpal, a murder accused absconding for the past 13 years and carrying a reward of Rs.25,000, officials said.
According to police, the case dates back to 2012, when Prempal, a resident of Guzrela village under Faizganj Behta police station, was shot dead inside his house. Four men were named in the FIR. While three were arrested earlier, the prime accused Tejpal evaded the police and remained on the run for over a decade.
The police finally tracked him down and arrested him from the forest area of Guzrela village on Friday. During his years in hiding, Tejpal reportedly lived in several cities under false names and identities. He worked at roadside eateries, survived on food served at religious shrines, officials said.
According to Faizganj Behta SHO Ramindra Singh, the police are now investigating whether Tejpal committed any other crimes during his years as a fugitive....
