Rudrapur, Aug. 1 -- A 40-year-old man, accused of killing a farmer in Sitarganj, has been arrested following a brief encounter in Udham Singh Nagar district, police said on Thursday. Senior superintendent of police (SSP) Manikant Mishra said that Nishan Singh had shot dead a farmer, Surjit Singh Rana (40) on Tuesday evening following a dispute over an electric motor used for irrigation. The victim's brother Prahlad Singh filed a complaint on the basis of which an FIR was registered against Nishan under various BNS sections, including 103 (murder), 351-1 (criminal intimidation), and 352 (intentional insult), Mishra said.
