Varanasi, July 6 -- The Uttar Pradesh Special Task Force (UP STF) arrested a murder accused who had been on the run for the last three years. The arrest took place on Saturday at the Fattepur trisection in the Badagaon area of Varanasi. According to the STF, the accused, Vinay Kumar Dwivedi, also known as Basu or Guruji, was wanted in connection with the murder of Sanjeev Tripathi. The murder took place in Bilaspur, Chhattisgarh, in 2022. Dwivedi is a resident of Chamrauha village in the Manikpur police station area of Chitrakoot. The STF said that he was also involved in the 2019 murder of Gaurav Singh Bagga, a student of Banaras Hindu University (BHU). A pistol of 315 bore and two cartridges were found with him at the time of arrest. STF deputy superintendent of Police Shailesh Pratap Singh said that during questioning, Dwivedi revealed he had come to Varanasi at the request of his associate Ejaz alias Sonu. Sonu is a wanted criminal with a reward of Rs.1 lakh on his head in Pratapgarh. In 2022, Dwivedi, along with Sonu, Danish Ansari, Pappu Dadhi, and Prasun Gupta, murdered Sanjeev Tripathi in the Sakri police station area of Bilaspur. The STF said that Sanjeev's brother, Kapil Tripathi, had given a contract to kill him because of a personal dispute. Dwivedi also confessed that he and his gang had killed BHU student Gaurav Singh Bagga in 2019 due to another personal conflict. He was jailed in Varanasi for that crime....
