VARANASI, Nov. 30 -- An accused in a murder case was arrested after an encounter with police near Kalyanpur village under the Syedraja police station area of Chandauli district on Saturday, police said. A country-made illegal .315-bore pistol, two live cartridges and one empty cartridge were recovered from his possession. The accused, identified as Savru alias Ritesh alias Bean, a resident of Ka Qazipur village, was wanted in connection with the murder of a youth that took place in a locality of Chandauli on November 23. Circle officer (Sadar) Devendra Kumar said the police received information that the murder accused was present near Kalyanpur village. Acting on the tip-off, a joint police team led by Syedraja police station in-charge inspector Vindeshwar Prasad Pandey and Chandauli Kotwali police station in-charge Sanjay Singh reached the spot and surrounded the accused near Kalyanpur village, around 1.5 km before the railway station. During the encounter, a police bullet struck the accused in the leg, causing him to fall. He was subsequently arrested. Kumar said the accused was rushed to the government hospital in Barhani for first aid and later referred to the District Hospital in Chandauli, where he is currently undergoing treatment. The injured constable, Vishnu Dutt Prajapati, has been admitted to CHC Barhani. A fresh case has been registered against the accused under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) for opening fire on the police. According to police, on November 23, around 9:00 pm, the accused and his accomplice allegedly beat a youth to death with sticks over a dispute related to parking a motorcycle, reportedly as an act of revenge. A case had been registered against him under sections 115(2)/352/351(2)/117(2) of the BNS at Syedraja police station....
