Murder accused arrested after Mathura encounter
AGRA, Dec. 29 -- An accused with more than a dozen cases registered against him at police stations in Rajasthan and Haryana was arrested by Mathura police following an encounter on Saturday night. He was recently booked for the murder of a man whom he suspected of having a relationship with his wife. The case was registered at the Highway police station in Mathura.
Deputy SP (Sadar) Mathura, Sandeep Kumar Singh, said that the accused, identified as Dharmendra, was arrested after an encounter with a joint team of SWAT and Highway police on Saturday. He sustained injuries during the encounter and was admitted to the District Hospital.
"The accused has more than a dozen cases registered against him, most of them at police stations in Alwar district of Rajasthan, besides Haryana. The encounter took place near village Usfar in Mathura district during the midnight hours," said DSP Singh.
Dharmendra was recently booked for the murder of Mukesh (27), a resident of Usfar village, whose body was recovered on December 18 with head injuries. The case was registered at the Highway police station.
Dharmendra had married a woman from a village in Alwar and had been residing for some time in Usfar village of Mathura with his wife. Owing to his criminal background, he was arrested in another case and sent to jail.
Dharmendra's wife would visit him in jail, and on each occasion she was accompanied by the deceased, Mukesh. This led Dharmendra to suspect that Mukesh was having an affair with his wife. After being released from jail, Dharmendra allegedly killed Mukesh on December 18 based solely on this suspicion....
