LUCKNOW, Dec. 16 -- With temperatures set to plummet in days to come, the Lucknow Municipal Corporation (LMC) has stepped up monitoring of night shelters to ensure that no homeless person sleeps in the open. Acting on directions of municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar, officials on Monday inspected raen baseras in Zones 2 and 3, prioritising improvement in basic facilities. During an inspection in Zone 2, which includes Aishbagh, Charbagh and other nearby areas, the team reviewed cleanliness, lighting, drinking water supply, toilet facilities and overall living arrangements. Additional municipal commissioner AK Gupta directed officials to maintain shelters in a more organised manner and ensure uninterrupted availability of essentials. There was a similar inspection in Zone 3, which includes Aliganj, Madiaon and other nearby areas. Additional municipal commissioner Namrata Singh assessed the condition of facilities and instructed officers to ensure that people taking shelter in raen baseras don't face any inconvenience. Municipal commissioner Gaurav Kumar said LMC is committed to providing a clean, safe and dignified environment in all night shelters.
