Mud sacks for trial at 1090 crossing spark commuter concerns
LUCKNOW, July 1 -- Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) has placed mud-filled sacks at strategic points around the 1090 intersection as part of a traffic study trial on the intersection. The move, aimed at simulating a proposed remodelling of the busy junction, has triggered criticism from daily commuters who report traffic disruptions and reduced road space.
LDA executive engineer Manoj Sagar confirmed the sacks were placed temporarily to facilitate a traffic study being carried out by a private agency.
The sacks have been placed on key approach roads leading to the intersection specifically from Samta Mulak crossing, Balu Adda, and Kalidas Marg.
However, commuters have voiced strong concerns about the temporary setup. Asif Khan, a commuter, said the sacks are eating into the available road space. Kartik Rai, another daily commuter, said, "Any narrowing of intersections like this will only create more congestion," he said.
The authority has not specified how long the trial will continue or when a decision on the intersection's remodelling will be made....
