Most Exit polls predict win for BJP-Sena alliance in BMC elections
Mumbai, Jan. 16 -- Exit polls predicted a clear sweep for the BJP-Shiv Sena alliance in the Brihanmumbai Corporation (BMC) polls held on Thursday, with the Opposition Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS tieup failing to stop the ruling partners from taking control of India's richest civic body.
Pollsters, including Axis My India, DV Research, Saam TV, Jubilant Data Studio (JDS), and JVC, projected the BJP-Shiv Sena to win the elections.
According to Axis My India, BJP-Shiv Sena will win 131-151 seats in the elections. The Shiv Sena (UBT)-MNS alliance, meanwhile, will have to suffice with 58-68 seats; the Congress-VBA alliance will get a meagre 12-16 seats while others, which comprise Independents and small parties such as the NCP, AIMIM and the Left parties, will win 6-12 seats.
The exit poll also that the ruling alliance is poised to secure 42% vote share, split between BJP (28%) and Shiv Sena (14%). For Shiv Sena (UBT), it predicted 24% vote share, followed by MNS (7%) and NCP (SP) with 1%.
BMC polls were held for 227 seats, and a party or alliance needs 114 seats for simple majority. In the previous BMC elections, which took place in 2017, the then Shiv Sena bagged 84 seats, while the BJP had won 82 seats....
