More of a headline-grabbing exercise: Maya
Lucknow, Feb. 12 -- Bahujan Samaj Party chief and former chief minister Mayawati termed the state's annual budget as 'more of a headline-grabbing exercise.'
She said it would be better if the budget announcements are implemented in timely manner and do not remain merely on paper.
The BSP chief also demanded accurate data on the ground implementation of last year's budget
Reacting to the budget, the BSP chief wrote on her official X handle, "The 2026-27 budget presented today in the Uttar Pradesh Legislative Assembly appears to be more appealing and less focused on the actual upliftment of the people and development of all sectors of society and the state. Nevertheless, the announcements and assurances made to the public must be implemented in a timely manner so that they do not remain merely on paper. The current budget appears to be more of a headline-grabbing exercise, which once again seems to have dashed people's hopes of 'Ache Din'..."
