Lucknow, Sept. 7 -- Girls have outshone boys yet again, bagging more medals, which will be given to them at the 15th Convocation ceremony of Bhatkhande Sanskriti Vishwavidyalaya (BSV) on Monday. Speaking at a press conference, BSV registrar, Srishti Dhaon Rathore, said that 21 medals will be conferred to women students and 19 medals will be awarded to the male students during the ceremony. "This year, nine undergraduate, 122 postgraduate and nine PhD degrees will be awarded during the convocation ceremony. Two new medals - Maa Uma Prabhakar Award for best BPA vocal student and Padma Shri Raj Bisaria Gold Medal for MPA Theatre have been constituted," said Rathore. Governor Anandiben Patel and chief guest former president Indian Council of Cultural Research Vinay Sahastrabuddhe will be present during the ceremony. University vice-chancellor prof Mandavi Singh said that this year the maximum number of PhDs will be awarded in the history of university. "Nine PhDs - eight to female students and one male student will be awarded during the ceremony," said Singh. Anshika Kataria, a student of Kathak who won a maximum of 8 gold medals, shared that her father is a businessman and she has been fond of dancing since childhood. "My mother and father contributed in promoting me to polish my skills. My gurus played an important role. Now I want to become both a performer and a teacher and contribute in the promotion of classical music for which I have also started a publication house to publish books related to music and Kathak," said Kataria. Shivam Kumar, a student of BPA tabla said that his father is a retired postmaster. "When I thought of making a career in music, my father initially did not agree. He wanted me to become a doctor but after seeing my passion for music he began supporting me. Now I aspire to present classical music to the new generation in such a way that they understand its importance," said Kumar....
