Monsoon to regain strength for a few days from today
LUCKNOW, Aug. 21 -- Monsoon activity in the state is likely to increase from August 21 and rain - heavy at some places - is likely to visit most parts of the state between August 22 and 25. Thereafter, the intensity and regional distribution of rains in the state will start decreasing from August 26, the Met department said on Wednesday.

The state capital experienced a light shower (1.4 mm) on Wednesday. The forecast for Lucknow is partly cloudy sky becoming generally cloudy towards noon with one or two spells of rain, thundershowers. The maximum and minimum temperature will be around 33 and 27 degrees Celsius, respectively.
The state forecast is rain/thundershowers likely at a few places over West UP and at isolated places over East UP. Also there is a warning of thunderstorms accompanied with lightning very likely at isolated places over East UP.
West UP received 572.4 mm rain against normal 476.4 mm, 20% excess rainfall in this season. East UP received 486.4 mm against normal 551.4 mm, 12% deficit. An overall UP recorded 521.8 mm rainfall against normal 520.1 mm which is normal. During the last 24 hours, Ballia received 22.2 mm rainfall....
