Money dispute leads to murder of disabled driver
LUCKNOW, Sept. 2 -- A differently abled auto driver was allegedly killed by a man with whom he once shared friendship, over a money dispute here in Gosaiganj on Monday morning. Police said the accused, identified as Mohit, attacked the victim, Pawan, with a sharp weapon and was later caught by locals while trying to flee.
DCP South Nipun Agarwal said the incident occurred at Unmedkhera turn under Gosaiganj police station limits.
"The deceased has been identified as Pawan, a resident of Mohanlalganj. The accused Mohit is also from the same village and both were known to each other," he said.
Reportedly, Mohit stopped Pawan's auto in Ummedkhera locality, slit his throat with a sharp object, and pushed him into a trench filled with rainwater. Witnesses said commuters saw the fight and rushed to the spot.
The accused tried to escape but was chased, caught by residents, and handed over to the police. Bloodstains were also found inside Pawan's auto, indicating that the attack took place there.
Police said Pawan had left home that morning in his auto when he met Mohit on the way. Eyewitnesses stated that Mohit had been walking along the road for some time before he forced the auto to stop and attacked Pawan.
Inspector Gosaiganj Brijesh Kumar Tripathi said the accused is about 21-22 years old. The victim's brothers alleged the killing was linked to an old financial dispute....
